I took my herding dog Hope to Mountainside Veterinary Rehabilitation to see Dr. Carlson as she had injured a muscle in her upper right front leg as well as her toe. Through rehabilitation involving acupuncture, chiropractic and massage as well as exercises to assist the muscle in healing, Hope is back competing. Dr. Carlson provided excellent care as well as taught me how to continue to support Hope as a working dog.
Therapeutic ultrasound helps the body in healing itself. The sound waves create microscopic air bubbles that stimulate cell membranes and promote healing via micromassage of fluids and tissue. This increases cell/vascular wall permeability, heats tissues (if needed), increases circulation, increases collagen extensibility, increases the metabolic rate, decreases edema, decreases inflammation, decreases muscle spasm, decreases scar tissue, relaxes muscles, changes nerve conduction velocity and can help/remind tissues to heal.
